An important direction of the Department’s activity is research work, the topics of which during the years of the department covered the most diverse spheres of life and production. An important part of the scientific activity of the Department was the participation in the Scientific Researching and Research Designing Works on the creation of a Unified Automated System for the Prevention and Alert of the Population on the Sea Waves Tsunami, which was conducted under the direction of Professor V.V.Sviridov.
The staff of the Department was engaged in the development of bearing structures of the hydroelectric borehole station, algorithms for processing information for autonomous buoy stations, the staff also participated in several marine expeditions and they successfully implemented their own developments. These and other developments have become the basis for the formation of the Scientific School-Department.
At this stage the scientific directions of the Department are:
- Methodologies, methods and information technologies for the development of integrated and Web-based information systems;
- Simulation and optimization of business process control;
- Mathematical maintenance of information control systems, identification and forecasting of stochastic dynamic series in technical and economic systems;
- Technologies of designing, administration, monitoring and management of corporate networks;
- Researching methods for converting and transmitting information to the ICS.
The researching work, which is carried out at the Department of ICS, is the basis for the training of qualified personnel and specialists in information control systems and technologies. This work is carried out in the areas related to the development of methods and approaches to designing various types of facilities for complex distributed ICS. The staff of the Department is currently conducting work on the creation of hardware and software for collecting and processing information in specialized control systems. The work on the designing of automation systems and microprocessor control and engine control systems is in progress.
