The Department of Information Control Systems trains students in the following educational programmes: “Information Technology for Management” at the first (Bachelor's) level of higher education, “Information Control Systems and Technology” at the second (Master's) level of higher education, and “Project Management in the Field of Information Technology” at the second (Master's) level of higher education, within speciality F3 — Computer Science.

For teaching students under its educational programmes, the Department uses university-wide lecture rooms, lecture rooms of general education departments, and the lecture rooms on whose premises it is located.

Lecture rooms

The Department has the following lecture rooms at its disposal for holding classes:

  • room No. 259 — a multimedia room for lectures, training sessions, conferences, defences of qualification and diploma theses, and presentations of research projects;
  • room No. 253 — the “Internet Technologies” teaching and research laboratory for practical classes, students' research work, and completing coursework assignments;
  • room No. 260 — the “Computer Network Technologies” teaching and research laboratory for laboratory work, practical classes, students' research work, and completing coursework assignments;
  • room No. 260a — a teaching room with portable multimedia equipment for lectures, practical classes, students' research work, and completing coursework assignments.

All the Department's rooms have technical data sheets, which are reviewed and approved annually.

Information resources

To provide students with information resources, the Department has a complete set of teaching and methodological materials in electronic and paper form, kept at the Department and available to every student. Students have access to the university's internal information network, which provides access to teaching and methodological materials held in the Scientific Library. The NURE Scientific Library has access to online databases available to any student or member of staff of the University, for example: the “Liga: Zakon” legal database; electronic versions of textbooks published by TsUL, the Centre for Educational Literature; the electronic journals “Information Protection. INSIDE” and “Information Security”; and online journals from the eLIBRARY scientific library.

Equipment

The teaching rooms are equipped with all the modern equipment needed, including multimedia equipment, to deliver the educational programmes under which students are trained.

To acquire the skills of working with professional equipment, the Department's “Computer Network Technologies” laboratory has the following equipment: personal computers, servers, network equipment, and communication tools.

The Department's computer stock comprises 62 units. All the computers used in the educational process have modern components and were purchased no more than 8 years ago. The software is licensed or freely available on the internet.

The amount of equipment and software is sufficient to deliver the full cycle of student training under the educational programmes.

When necessary, the Department uses the computer rooms of the University's Information and Computing Centre with the required software, or the lecture rooms, laboratories and computer classrooms of the “Synerhiia” Science Park, and also submits requests for the equipment, software and materials needed to further support the educational process.

Academic staff and partners

Quality training of students under all the educational programmes is provided by the Department's academic staff, including: 3 Doctors of Sciences, Professors; 1 Doctor of Sciences, Associate Professor; 12 Candidates of Sciences, Associate Professors; 3 Candidates of Sciences; 8 Assistants. All of them hold qualifications matching speciality F3 — Computer Science, under which students are trained, conduct research activities, supervise students' research work, have sufficient work experience, and undergo professional development or internships in a timely manner.

To improve the quality of teaching, the Department involves leading specialists and practitioners from industry in training students. The ICS Department's partners are the leading IT companies ProfITSoft and SoftServe. Specialists from these companies run training sessions and classes with students of the ITM educational programme, invite students to work on projects, undertake internships and placements, and offer employment opportunities. Thanks to the support of partner companies, the computer stock and network equipment are continuously updated, and rooms are refurbished.
