In its research, the ICS Department follows the principles of open science (open science practices) — an approach in which research results, scientific data and educational materials are made available for verification, reuse and dissemination. It is based on the NURE Open Science Policy approved by the University Academic Council on 30 April 2026 (minutes No. 6).

Principles

  • Transparency and reproducibility — research methodology and results are open to verification, analysis and reproduction.
  • Public good — science is regarded as an asset of society as a whole.
  • Sustainable development — open access to knowledge supports the sustainable development goals.
  • Inclusiveness and accessibility — equal opportunities to access scientific knowledge and take part in research.
  • Academic integrity — research is grounded in the principles of integrity and ethical responsibility.
  • Collaboration — inter-institutional and international cooperation in research.

Practices in the department

  • Open access to publications. Articles, abstracts, conference papers and monographs by lecturers, PhD students and students are published in the university repository and on open platforms under Creative Commons licences (CC-BY, CC-BY-NC, etc.).
  • Open research data. Data obtained in research are managed according to the FAIR principles (findable, accessible, interoperable, reusable) and, where possible, published in open formats (CSV, XML, JSON).
  • Open source software. Software created in research projects is published as open source under the MIT, BSD and GNU GPL licences.
  • Open educational resources. Teaching materials recommended by the University Academic Council may be assigned a DOI and are published in open access.
  • Graduation theses. Bachelor's and master's explanatory notes and doctoral dissertations are published on the official website or in the university repository.
  • Researcher profiles. Lecturers and PhD students maintain up-to-date profiles in scientometric databases, on digital platforms and in URIS, the National Electronic Scientific Information System.

Open access is restricted only in cases provided for by Ukrainian law — in particular for restricted information, results of commercial contracts and intellectual property of third parties.
