The permanent “Optimisation Solutions in ICS” student research club of the Department of Information Control Systems operates on an ongoing basis at the ICS Department.

Supervisors

Aim and objectives

The aim of the club's activities is to create an integrated educational and research space that helps improve the quality of student training by involving them in scientific research and innovative activities. This involves developing students' intellectual potential, building skills in independent scientific enquiry, and encouraging the generation of new ideas and their practical application to solve topical problems in the fields of computer science and socio-economic development. The club's activities are designed to develop students' creative thinking and encourage them to take part in interdisciplinary projects combining various aspects of education, science and innovation.

Objectives

  • ensuring synergy between the educational process and research activities by creating favourable conditions for the practical application of theoretical knowledge acquired during study;
  • developing students' research skills, analytical thinking and ability to make innovative decisions by involving them in scientific experiments, projects and software development;
  • organising and supporting regular scientific events, such as seminars, conferences, master classes and workshops, that promote the exchange of knowledge and experience between students and the University's researchers;
  • encouraging students' active participation in research grants, startup competitions and research projects aimed at commercialising scientific developments and introducing innovations into production processes;
  • preparing students to work in today's globalised labour market, where knowledge and experience in conducting research, project management and innovation activities are key success factors;
  • fostering ethical standards and academic integrity among students in the process of conducting scientific research and writing scientific papers.

Expected results

  • raising the level of students' educational and scientific training, reflected in their growing ability to conduct independent research, formulate scientific hypotheses, and analyse and interpret results;
  • expanding opportunities for publication in scientific journals and participation in international and national scientific conferences and research competitions, which promotes the popularisation of the results of student research;
  • creating an environment for interdisciplinary collaboration that encourages an innovative approach to solving scientific and applied problems;
  • an increase in the number of student startups, business ideas and projects with the potential for patenting and commercial implementation;
  • developing students' leadership qualities and teamwork skills, which helps prepare them to manage projects in their future professional careers;
  • strengthening the University's position as a leading educational and research centre in IT that supports students' innovative initiatives and promotes their development through scientific cooperation and integration with national and international partners.

The club's role in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals

  • Goal 4 “Quality Education”. The club's activities help improve the quality of education by developing research skills, critical thinking and the practical application of knowledge. Students gain access to scientific research and innovation, which helps prepare them better for professional life;
  • Goal 8 “Decent Work and Economic Growth”. The club's activities and participation in research projects help students develop the professional skills needed for a successful career, which contributes to the creation of decent jobs and ensures long-term economic growth.

Areas of work

  1. Applying a value proposition formation method to develop the functional task “Demand Analysis (and/or Product Range Formation) for a Modular Building Manufacturing Company” (other types of manufacturing or service companies are also possible).
  2. Development of an IT service for analysing the quality and reliability of a house insulation option, as part of the information system of a specialised construction and installation company.
  3. An IT service for monitoring storage conditions and the quality of stored agricultural produce at a warehousing company.
  4. Features of accounting for the occupancy of storage units under conditions of uncertainty and risk.
  5. Selecting the optimal decoding technology for monitoring and analysing interactions with runes on the Bitcoin blockchain.
  6. An IT module for analysing the dynamics of the psychological recovery of war veterans at a rehabilitation centre.
  7. Website promotion. Content quality requirements.
  8. Analysis of SEO promotion tools.
