IT project management

The “IT Project Management” student research club was established in 2012 to provide scientific and scientific-practical training for students of the first (Bachelor's) and second (Master's) levels of higher education in the field of project management for the development of information systems and information technologies.

The club operates on an ongoing basis according to the principles of academic freedom and creative independence of students, in line with the University's Development Strategy, and works according to a plan developed by its supervisors and approved at a meeting of the Department of Information Control Systems (ICS).

Supervisors

Maksym Viktorovych Ievlanov — Professor of the ICS Department, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science for Research.

Nataliia Volodymyrivna Vasyltsova — Professor of the ICS Department, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor.

Aim and objectives

The aim of the club's activities is to improve the quality of student training by involving them in scientific and scientific-practical research and innovative activities within the management of the development and implementation of IT projects. This involves developing students' scientific activity and intellectual potential, building skills in both independent scientific enquiry and working within project teams, and encouraging the generation of new ideas and their practical application to solve topical problems in the field of computer science. The club's activities are designed to develop students' creative thinking and encourage them to take part in interdisciplinary projects that can serve as prototypes of IT projects combining various aspects of education, science and innovation.

Main objectives

• ensuring synergy between the educational process and research activities by creating favourable conditions for the practical application of theoretical knowledge acquired during study;
• developing students' research skills, analytical thinking and ability to make innovative decisions by involving them in scientific experiments, IT projects and software development;
• organising and supporting regular scientific events, such as seminars, conferences, master classes and workshops, that promote the exchange of knowledge and experience between students and the University's researchers;
• encouraging students' active participation in research grants, startup competitions and research IT projects aimed at commercialising scientific developments and introducing innovations into production processes;
• preparing students to work in today's labour market, where knowledge and experience in conducting research, managing IT projects and innovation activities in information technology are key success factors;
• fostering ethical standards and academic integrity among students in the process of conducting scientific research and writing scientific papers.

Expected results

• raising the level of students' educational and scientific training, reflected in their growing ability to conduct both independent research and research within IT project teams, formulate scientific hypotheses, and analyse and interpret results;
• expanding opportunities for publication in scientific journals and participation in international and national scientific conferences and research competitions, which promotes the popularisation of the results of student research;
• creating an environment for interdisciplinary collaboration that encourages an innovative approach to solving scientific and applied problems;
• an increase in the number of student startups, business ideas and projects with the potential for patenting and commercial implementation;
• developing students' leadership qualities and skills of working within an IT project team, which helps prepare them to manage such projects in their future professional careers;
• strengthening the University's position as a leading educational and research centre in IT that supports students' innovative initiatives and promotes their development through scientific cooperation and integration with national and international partners.
